Who we are

We are a small family business based in Mickleover, Derby. PAT testing is our main trade and the bulk of our work; the fire safety services we offer grew out of customers asking us to handle those checks on the same visit.

Mickleover Services is run by Peter and Carrie-Ann Milnes, a husband and wife team. Between us we handle the quoting, the testing, the paperwork and the phone, and we work with a settled group of self-employed engineers we have used for years rather than pulling names off an agency list. In practice that means you see the same faces on repeat visits, and the person who quotes your job is the person you can ring afterwards.

How we work

Most compliance testing is bought once and then repeated for years, so we would rather be the firm you keep than the cheapest quote in your inbox. In practice that means being thorough on site, being honest about what actually needs replacing, and giving you paperwork detailed enough to hand straight to an inspector.

Our engineers

Every engineer who attends your site is trained and experienced in electrical safety testing, and every one of them is DBS checked. We apply the same standard whether the engineer is one of us or one of the self-employed engineers we work with, because a large share of our work is in schools, care homes and healthcare settings where unsupervised access to vulnerable people is a real consideration.

Our paperwork

We built our own testing and certification software in house, which is why our reports come back quickly and in a consistent format. You get a full asset register rather than a one-line certificate, so when something fails you know exactly which item it was and where it lived.
